Tatyana,
I am an English teacher and I want to say your advice is good. I tell my students the same. Watch movies, listen to music. The language CDs can help. I would encourage when possible to read books with dual translation with your native language and English. I would also encourage you to find sites that have language partners. I shall not advertise one I teach on (will share if asked) but there are social language sites that members can find like minded people to share their language with. You help someone learn your language and they help you learn theirs, such as English. Some of these sites also offer very reasonable instruction, or at least oral practice with tutors. This is crucial for improvement of communication. We must speak regularly and if possible with native speakers of the language we wish to learn.
But, let us not forget that communication is far more than just words. Non-verbal communication is also important. I have used it many times in my one year of living in China.))
I think people must enjoy watching you speaking out loud while practicing your English))
