I am sorry to say, but I also write one of those short phrases.😖 My favourite one is 'Hello, how are you?' Do you really think it's a foolish way for starting communication? I would be really greatful to you (and other women on this site 😊 too, I guess), if you write some phrases to start the communication, which seem to be interesting from your point of view.
