No this is not a democracy at all. Olga, you probably missed the part that I was not trying to convince Tatyana to move to the US, that is indeed her choice. However, discarding a person because of the place they live in or their origin is not a democracy and not a freedom of choice - it's a closed-mindedness when dealing with personal relationships and would be plain discrimination in any kind of business dealings. In the latter case we have pretty strong anti-discrimination laws in the US.
