I agree that if all efforts were made, then it is foolish to try again. After all there are lots of other people in the world. But if the two broke as the results of cultural confusions and misunderstandings and not through incompatibility or infidelity or lack of care, then the opportunity should be made again. Of course, there is no guarantee, but it seems that trying to fix some problems is easier than starting from the beginning.
