Andy and everyone else; thanks for your best wishes and kind words. She will be visiting here in September and we plan to pick out some furniture together, during this trip.
There has been some concern that I be honest about where we might start our new life together. After reading some of our remarks here, I had mentioned to her that I was planning some remodeling to make our apartment a little nicer, even though it will only be temporary. She calmly wrote back to say, "Doug, I do not care; I will live in any apartment with you." Wow! What a girl! I am so grateful to have found her. (I guess that answers your question, Andy; will a girl leave everything behind to come be with you.)
We have several options besides my boring apartment here. One is our family summer home on a secluded island an a lake in the Maine woods, in my home state. We would also be near the ocean, which she has never seen. Not many new pictures and all the old furniture is being replaced, but I will post a few so you don't think she will have to live in a man-cave or a terrible dump! (She is very private so I do not mention her name.)
Dreams can come true, and sometimes just when you think you will never find her.
