That's what happens when people only read (and understand) HALF a message. I never said that "hello" is wrong.
HERE: PLEASE READ THE WHOLE SENTENCE!
I said that "hi" ONLY and nothing else is an idiotic way to start a conversation.
A proper start is something like this:
" Hello, dear ASDF, I noticed that you enjoy watching TV (your profile states that) and I was wondering what films interest you. What was the last good film you saw and what genre do you like?
I'll be happy to hear from you and get to know you better."
Use your imagination. A simple "hi" is lazy, shallow and disrespectful.
